Basildon – God’s fast track?
Basildon New town was started in 1949. At that time it was stated by Rt. Hon. Lewis Silkin that“Basildon will become a City which people from all over the world will want to visit. ” In 1963 I acquired a new job there with the Basildon Development Corporation, Roads and Bridges department. This qualified us for a brand new house and I could literally take my pick.
