Acknowledgments go to Paul Edwards of Basildon for suggesting that photos could be available online. I thought “What a great idea!” and then discovered what a lot of work that entails, searching through hundreds of photographs (still some I can’t find) and putting captions on them. This means that I have almost written another book. the photos are worth looking at. Thanks Paul for setting up the site so it actually works.
Acknowledgments to my oldest son John. I am glad he understands these things better than me. He has been over a few times to help me actually load the photos on to the site and has also worked on it at home. Thanks John.
Philip Clarke, pictured with his wife Barbara, is a retired head teacher. He was one of my main proof readers and I am really grateful for his thoroughness.
Dr Harry Letson and his wife Henny have been firm friends for many years and Harry was one of my main proof readers. His attention to detail meant I had to make quite a few adjustments to my grasp of the English language.
Acknowledgments also go to Dave Wardley of Sheffield who called in on his way home from work because he felt God wanted him to tell me I ‘must get on with the book.’ That was at least ten years before the finished item has arrived. Some of us are very slow.
Our four children have always been a great help and I acknowledge the fact that I could not have written this book without their encouragement and comments.
Rosemary has shared 60 years of the journey and deserves credit for more than she realises.
What can I say about our grandson Adam. Smart lad, brilliant cover design. Thanks Adam.
